KAMLOOPS — This past weekend was a big one for Special Olympics basketball players.

The athletes took to the hardwood at Norkam for the zone two regional tournament.

It brought in teams from throughout the Okanagan, including Penticton, Kelowna, Vernona and three Kamloops teams.

This tournament is the first step towards the world championships, which will take place in 2020.

But for most of the athletes, it’s a chance to get out, see some friends and have fun.’
