KAMLOOPS — A monster weekend has earned a draft-eligible Kamloops Blazers athlete Player of the Week honours in the WHL.

Connor Zary recorded nine points (four goals, five assists) in four games last week to earn the nod from the league.

After picking up an assist in Wednesday’s 4-2 win over the Giants, Zary had a hat-trick at home Friday night against Lethbridge. He also picked up a goal and four helpers in a pair of weekend wins against the Tri-City Americans.

The big weekend extended the Saskatoon product’s scoring streak to eight straight games, where he’s picked up seven goals and ten assists. Zary currently sits second in team scoring, with 38 goals and 48 assists, which is good for fifth place in the WHL scoring race.

According to NHL.com’s 2020 Draft Prospect Ratings, Zary is the 12th-ranked North American skater in the upcoming NHL Entry Draft, which takes place on June 26th and 27th in Montreal.

Zary is the third Blazer to be recognized with Player of the Week honours, joining linemates Orrin Centazzo and Zane Franklin.
