KAMLOOPS — RCMP say a young boy originally reported dead in a Sunday (Feb. 23) crash south of Kamloops, is actually alive in ‘grave condition’.

The crash happened Sunday on Highway 5A near Napier Lake.

A 47-year-old man and an eight-year-old child died in the crash.

RCMP initially said a younger child, aged six, was also killed in the crash.

In a subsequent release Tuesday, RCMP corrected the younger child’s age to five.

Now, RCMP have issued another correction, saying police received “further confirmation from health officials” revealing the five-year-old boy is alive in grave condition.

The boy is in hospital in Vancouver.

RCMP say, “[o]ut of respect for privacy of the family, no further information regarding the child’s private medical status will be shared publicly.”
