Close call in early morning accident

KAMLOOPS — It was a close call this morning for a pair of Kamloops residents driving on the Trans Canada Highway.

Staff Sergeant Mat Van Laer says about 2:00 AM, the two occupants were in a small car travelling eastbound near the Copperhead Drive exit. The vehicle rear-ended a semi trailer travelling in the same direction.

Staff Sergeant Van Laer says it appears the car might have been following the semi too closely. The small car was severely damaged, but the occupants, a man and woman in their early 20’s, sustained only minor injuries. The semi driver wasn’t hurt.

Traffic was disrupted for a short time, but the road was kept open while police investigated.
