KAMLOOPS — RCMP have a suspect in custody after a stabbing Sunday night (Feb. 16) in Aberdeen.

According to an RCMP news release, the incident occurred at about 10:50 p.m. in the 1800-block of Rogers Place.

Police say a group of people were standing outside when they were approached by someone they didn’t know.

The man demanded money from the group. He is alleged to have stabbed one person before taking off on foot.

The victim of the stabbing was taken to hospital with what police are calling a non-life-threatening wound.

After RCMP received the report, officers rushed to the area and set up a perimeter.

An officer saw a person fitting the suspect’s description and advised the suspect he was under arrest.

The suspect did not cooperate but was eventually taken into custody.

RCMP say they will hold the suspect in custody while investigational findings are forwarded to the BC Prosecution Service for charge consideration.
