KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers ended their five-game losing skid Friday night, as they topped the Red Deer Rebels by a 5-3 score.

The Blazers struck first, just 1:02 into the opening stanza as Orrin Centazzo scored his 37th goal of the year on the powerplay.

However, the Rebels showed some moxie later in the period, scoring a pair of quick goals to take the lead. The first, off the stick of Cameron Hausinger, came at 15:32, then 18 seconds lat at 15:50, Arshdeep Bains gave the Rebels the 2-1 lead.

Brody Stuart answered for Kamloops at 5:11 of the second period, and Centazzo picked up his 38th 73 seconds later.

The Rebels refused to quit, as Josh Tarzwell got the equalizer for Red Deer at 10:36 of the middle frame.

In the third, it was all Kamloops, as they peppered Rebels netminder Ethan Anders with 15 shots, two of which got by him.

Zane Franklin scored the eventual game-winner at 5:52 of the final frame, and Logan Stankoven buried the insurance marker at 15:34 of the period to seal it.

Anders stopped 25 of the 30 shots he faced in a losing effort. Rayce Ramsay, who has been filling in while Dylan Garand remains out of the lineup with an injury, made 19 saves on 22 shots.

Kamloops welcomes the second-place team in the BC Division for a pair of games, as the Victoria Royals come to town seven points behind the Blazers in the standings.

Neither team has been all that good in their last ten games; the Blazers are 4-5-1 over that stretch, while the Royals are 4-4-1-1.

Puck drop is 7:00 pm Saturday, and the second game is a 2:00 pm matinee on Family Day.
