KAMLOOPS — Western Canada Theatre is working toward a more accessible theatre-going experience at the Sagebrush Theatre.

Since the roof repair of the theatre was completed in October, WCT has taken on a few extra projects to improve audience amenities.

Jump seats have been installed in the theatre’s accessible row, accessible washrooms have been fitted with automatic door openers and new handrails have just been installed.

“Next to the liquor license being a frequently requested item we have also had many requests for hand rails, so that an aging population is able to get up and down those steps with greater ease,” said WCT Managing Director Evan Klassen.

“So, just last week we installed a full set of hand rails through our centre aisles, through our upper house so that it’s possible for patrons to get up to an from their seats, which is really going to revolutionize their experience of going to… enjoy the arts.”
