With coronary unit up and running at RIH, ICCHA/Wish Fund sets new target for 2020

KAMLOOPS — After successfully funding a new Coronary Care Unit (CCU) at Royal Inland Hospital (RIH), the ICCHA/Wish Fund is regrouping with another target in 2020.

In a news release, founder Al Patel says the charitable fund wants to raise $300,000 this year and target the funds toward a dedicated 3D-Echocardiogram in the new CCU.

Patel says the equipment would help reduct the approximately one-year wait time for diagnostics.

The CCU opened on September 30, 2019.

Patel says any additional funding raised this year would, with the blessing of Interior Health, be used for two ‘C-Arms’ “for cardiologists to accurately perform life-saving procedures in emergency situations.”
