Kamloops Broncos hire new head coach
KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Broncos are happy to announce the signing of Braden Vankoughnett as their new Head Coach.
Prior to taking the job as the head coach, Vankoughnett served as an Assistant Coach and Recruiting Co-ordinator. He was directly in charge of recruiting players and has built a strong player base and has formed many new partnerships. Vankoughnett is an alumnus of the Kamloops Broncos and has enjoyed a successful football career. He played for the Kamloops Broncos in 2015 before joining the squad of the Acadia Axmen where he played for 2 season. Vankoughnett returned to the Kamloops Broncos in 2018 and has since been an integral member of the Broncos coaching staff.
In addition, Vankoughnett is an auxiliary firefighter and is pursuing his university degree at Thompson Rivers University.
Vankoughnett now faces the challenge of developing a strong and successful football program and recruiting players that will help to move the Broncos to the next level. “We’re very fortunate to have landed a coach like Vankoughnett who is a successful recruiter, a great football player and is a solid football coach”, said Jan Antons, General Manager Kamloops Broncos. Antons added, “Coach Vankoughnett has had the opportunity to be a player and coach with the Kamloops Broncos. We know he will be a great mentor, preparing our student athletes and players for the challenges they will have on and off the field and more importantly in life after football”.
