Toronto FC skipper Michael Bradley undergoes successful ankle surgery
Toronto FC captain Michael Bradley has undergone successful ankle surgery in New York City with the MLS team confirming that the veteran midfielder will be out for four months.
The operation, performed Tuesday evening by Dr. Martin O’Malley at the Hospital for Special Surgery, fixed loose cartilage fragment in Bradley’s right ankle joint.
O’Malley is the same surgeon who repaired Kevin Durant’s ruptured Achilles, suffered in Game 5 of the NBA Finals against Toronto last June. O’Malley, who specializes in reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle, is the Brooklyn Nets’ team physician (orthopedics).
O’Malley has also operated on Washington Wizards guard C.J. Miles (a former Raptor), Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love, Philadelphia 76ers centre Joel Embiid, Toronto Raptor Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (while a Net) and NFL star receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Dez Bryant, among others.
