MERRITT, B.C. — The traffic is constant on the Coquihalla Highway. An average of 10,000 vehicles travel the highway every day.
According to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure — it sees twice the volume of any other mountain highway in the province.
Mix that with more than 11 metres of snow each winter, and you have a highway unique to British Columbia.
This year, a new highway maintenance contractor has taken over responsibilities in the region. CFJC Today‘s Adam Donnelly caught a ride with one of Yellowhead Road and Bridge’s plow trucks, to learn how the contractor is doing in its first year maintaining the Coquihalla Highway.
