KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops is giving wood stove owners an extra incentive to replace their older appliances with newer, cleaner ones.

The Wood Stove Scrap-It Program offers a $200 rebate to those who remove and recycle their eligible wood-burning stoves.

This is over and above the rebates offered in the Wood Stove and Fireplace Exchange Program (WSEP). WSEP offers participants up to $800 plus an added $300 as a FortisBC rebate for gas appliances.

For those who don’t want to give up burning wood, the programs offer educational information on what appliances and materials to use in order to keep the air as clean as possible.
