KAMLOOPS — Kamloops appears to be in better shape than many areas when it comes to weather issues today.

School busses are all running, and schools are open in School District 73.

. In the Cariboo-Chilcotin, no school busses are running, although schools are open in School District 27.. This while the Cariboo is under an extreme cold weather warning.

In the Lower Mainland, schools are closed, busses are having difficulty getting around, and SkyTrains are delayed because many of the doors on the coaches haven’t been closing properly because of the cold weather.

In addition to all that, there’s a travel advisory out in the Fraser Valley. Motorists are advised that the highway is closed between Langley and Chilliwack until further notice because of blowing snow, poor visibility, fog, and compact ice. The road could be closed for much of the morning. Most schools in the Lower Mainland are closed. Whiteout conditions are in effect.

So if you’re planning on going to the coast, perhaps a bit of a delay is in order. In downtown Vancouver, 8-9 inches of snow has been reported in some areas.

B.C. Ferries are not being severely affected yet, but some sailings have been delayed because of heavy fog, and the odd sailing to the smaller islands has been cancelled.

In the Interior, roads are all open, but there is compact snow and slippery conditions on all routes.
