Billie Eilish has been confirmed to perform the theme song for the upcoming James Bond movie, No Time To Die. Eilish, at 18 the youngest artist to ever compose the theme for a 007 adventure, has co-written the song with her brother Finneas, who co-writes and produces all Eilish’s material.

Eilish said in a statement, “It feels crazy to be a part of this in every way. To be able to score the theme song to a film that is part of such a legendary series is a huge honor. James Bond is the coolest film franchise ever to exist. I’m still in shock.”

Finneas added, “Writing the theme song for a Bond film is something we’ve been dreaming about doing our entire lives. There is no more iconic pairing of music and cinema than the likes of ‘Goldfinger’ and ‘Live And Let Die.’ We feel so so lucky to play a small role in such a legendary franchise, long live 007.”

No Time To Die director Cary Joji Fukunaga described himself as a “huge fan” of Eilish and her brother, adding, “Their creative integrity and talent are second to none and I cannot wait for audiences to hear what they’ve brought — a fresh new perspective whose vocals will echo for generations to come.”

The themes for the 24 previous official Bond films have come from a variety of pop artists, ranging from Shirley Bassey to Paul McCartney to Adele. But the franchise has also tapped alternative rock stars like Garbage, the late Chris Cornell, Jack White and even Radiohead — although the filmmakers rejected Radiohead’s theme for 2015’s Spectre in favor of one by Sam Smith.

Cornell, who wrote and performed “You Know My Name” for the 2006 film Casino Royale, told us back then why doing a James Bond theme was personally important to him: [“Because of the connection to being a Beatles fan and being a Paul McCartney fan. You know, I remember hearing that song, ‘Live and Let Die,’ when I was — I must have been nine or 10 years old. If somebody had told that nine or 10-year-old kid, you know, someday on the 21st James Bond film, that’s gonna be your song…that is a super-exciting thing.”] SOUNDCUE (:18 OC: . . . super-exciting thing.)

No Time To Die, which will star Daniel Craig in his fifth and final appearance as the British secret agent, will open in the U.S. on April 10th.
