Snow Angels puts out the call for more volunteers following heavy snowfall

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Snow Angels program is putting out the call for more volunteers following the weekend’s snow events.

The Snow Angels program recruits volunteers to shovel the driveways and sidewalks of people who aren’t able to do the work themselves.

The weekend’s snowfall and blustery winds left the snow angels with plenty of work to do.

“Our Snow Angels are out there busy shoveling multiple times in just a couple of days,” said Snow Angels Coordinator Chris Linton. “They go out and collect the snow that has drifted. So, they really are doing a great job but we do need more Snow Angels, in particular places like the North Shore there are a number of homes, far too many homes that don’t have someone to help.”

Other neighbourhoods that are still in need include Batchelor Heights, Valleyview and Dallas.

There are about 35 homes currently on the waiting list for help from the Snow Angels. Anyone who chooses to help out will receive a token of appreciation.

“Apart from the feeling of good will, Dominoes Pizza has come on board again this year,” Linton said. “They offer a free medium pizza for each time you shovel. So this year, I think there’s going to be a lot of people enjoying pizza.”
