TAPPEN, B.C. — A man has died after being shot by RCMP in Tappen Tuesday night (Jan. 7).

According to a news release from B.C. RCMP Communications Director Dawn Roberts, Salmon Arm RCMP were called to a mischief complaint at a Tappen home last night at about 6:40 p.m. The complainant told police their property had been severely damaged.

Upon arrival, responding officers found the suspect at a neighbouring home. An attempted arrest was called off due to the high risk.

After calling in the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and setting up a perimeter, officers got a warrant and “deployed a chemical agent” to try to force the man to leave the home.
