The rumors were true. Hailee Steinfeld started the new year with new music. Her latest song “Wrong Direction” debuted at midnight on January 1st.

An Instagram post featuring the new track has the caption, “hi 2020. wrong direction is out now.” The single, an emotional ballad that addresses a past relationship, features the lyric, “it’s so gut-wrenching falling in the wrong direction.”

The title has fans speculating it is a diss track about her One Direction ex-boyfriend Niall Horan. The two split in December 2018 and Horan has already released two breakup tracks: “Nice to Meet Ya” and “Put a Little Love On Me.”
