Operation Red Nose looking for more volunteers for New Year’s Eve

Dec 30, 2019 | 3:48 PM

KAMLOOPS — Operation Red Nose is heading into its busiest night of service tomorrow (Dec. 31) and they could use a little help.

The designated driving service is putting out the call for more volunteers before New Year’s Eve, when the big rush comes just after midnight.

“We could use probably a good 10 to 15 more (volunteers),” said Operation Red Nose Coordinator Katie Klassen. “We are looking for volunteers who have completed their criminal record check already for us, just because it is quite last minute. So, anyone that has volunteered for us this campaign, or the past two years can volunteer for us tomorrow night.”

It has been a busy campaign for Operation Red Nose so far.

The service is a fundraiser for PacificSport, and Klassen says donations have been generous.

“A lot of businesses using the ride vouchers as well. I think we had about $1,500 just from the ride vouchers themselves,” she said. “Everyone has been very generous with the donations.”

If you would like to volunteer email kamloops@operationrednose.com or call (250) 320-0650.
