KAMLOOPS β€” Up to 25 centimetres of snow is in the forecast for area highways Thursday night.

In a special weather statement, Environment Canada says heavy snow over the Southern Interior mountain passes is expected to begin tomorrow evening (Dec. 19).

Periods of snow will persist well into the coming weekend, Environment Canada says.

Initial estimates put total snowfall around 15 to 25 centimetres for the Coquihalla Summit, Allison Pass and Kootenay Pass.
