Colin and Livia Firth have split after 22 years of marriage, a public affair and a court case with an alleged stalker.

Reps tell People: “Colin and Livia Firth have separated. They maintain a close friendship and remain united in their love for their children. They kindly ask for privacy. There will be no further comment.”

They share two children, Luca, 18, and Matteo, 16. They were last seen together in September, at the Green Carpet Fashion Awards during Milan Fashion Week.

This split comes almost two years after the pair revealed that Livia had a romance with another man while they were separated in 2015. Livia, who married the 59-year-old Oscar winner in 1997, claimed that Marco Brancaccia stalked her after their relationship ended.

This is what they said in a statement in March of 2018: “A few years ago Colin and Livia privately made the decision to separate. During that time Livia briefly became involved with former friend Mr. Brancaccia. The Firths have since reunited.”

In 2017, police investigated Brancaccia when Livia filed an official complaint in Italy claiming he was harassing her. Brancaccia denied the allegations. He told People: “The reality is that Livia and I have known each other since we were youths, then in 2015-2016 we had an 11-month love affair. After it ended in June 2016 I never called her again. I did send her two WhatsApp messages, one happy birthday [text message] and an email to Colin, the latter which I truly regret.”

He was charged with stalking after police reportedly found “abusive messages and emails” on Brancaccia’s phone during the investigation. The case was settled out of court in July of 2018.
