Police watchdog says no wrongdoing by Kamloops RCMP in attempted traffic stop of motorcyclist
KAMLOOPS — The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. says no report will be made to Crown counsel regarding the Kamloops RCMP’s actions during a traffic stop in May.
On May 18, a Kamloops RCMP officer attempted to pull over a speeding motorcyclist. According to a report by the IIO, the motorcyclist sped away and the officer turned off his emergency lights and didn’t pursue.
A short distance later, eyewitnesses say the motorcyclist was weaving through traffic, sped up while looking over his shoulder, and struck the median and crashed.
“He was thrown from the motorcycle and slid for some distance along the pavement before standing up,” the report states.
