FALKLAND, B.C. — It’ll start to get a bit busier in the small community of Falkland now that the RCMP’s North Okanagan Traffic Services section will be located there.

In a news release, North Okanagan RCMP Supt. Shawna Baher points out the speed limit on Highway 97 dropping from 90 km/h to 70 km/h through Westwold, and 50 km/h through Falkland.

“Many of our community members in these areas have raised concerns about speeding and unsafe driving,” Baher says in a news release. “We welcome this move as it will increase police visibility and overall road safety of this busy traffic corridor.”

A Sergeant, two Corporals, seven Constables, and a public service worker will be using the Falkland Detachment as their permanent home starting this week, joining the Corporal and two Constables already at the detachment.
