Golden Globe Nominations Announced
The 2020 Golden Globes nominations have officially been released, and Netflix is dominating the categories with a total of 34 nominations. Netflix distributed three of the five films nominated for best dramatic picture-“Marriage Story”, which has six total noms; “The Irishman” with five; and “The Two Popes” with four. Their original television programs “Unbelievable” and “The Crown” both have four nominations.
Other film nominees include Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood” which appears not only in the best comedy film category, but features nominations for both Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt. “Joker” also picked up several nominations, including best actor for Joaquin Phoenix. Among the film nominations for best actress are big names like Scarlett Johansson, Cynthia Erivo, and Cate Blanchett.
Some notable snubs include Robert De Niro in “The Irishman”, the film “Cats” and the cast of “Game of Thrones” (except for Kit Harrington, who was nominated for best actor in a dramatic series). The Golden Globes is set to air on January 5th, 2020-hosted by Ricky Gervais.
