Dec 4, 2019 | 11:23 AM

KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops business owner is asking the public to keep their eyes peeled for several pieces of stolen equipment.

Blair McCaskill owns McCaskill Mechanical. He says a truck towing a trailer and excavator has been stolen.

“We rent a spot out on the reserve from Artistic Signs, and it was stolen from a locked compound,” McCaskill says. “They actually drove the trailer backward through the gate to get it out.”

He says when his crew showed up at 8:00 a.m. to bring the unit to the job, they discovered it was gone.

McCaskill says there has been a police report filed for the white company truck, attached trailer and excavator.

Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP’s Cpl. James Toye confirms in a release that a white Ford F550 dump truck bearing the BC plate JR5705, and attached trailer bearing BC plate 90969D with a John Deere Model D35 yellow and black excavator was stolen from 745 Sarcee St. East..

Toye says RCMP’s investigation determined the vehicle headed south on the Yellowhead Hwy from Mt. Paul Way, continuing south on the Yellowhead past Shuswap Road.

McCaskill says a company across the street was able to pull security footage which showed the theft occurring shortly before 3:00 a.m. on Sarcee Street.

“Well we can rent equipment to get through but it’s hard,” McCaskill says. “It actually affects the costs a lot too of doing the jobs.”

If you have seen any of the pieces of stolen equipment, call Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP at 250-314-1800.
