Royals “Opting” Out of Trump’s Visit
President Donald Trump is returning to Buckingham Palace and American princess Meghan Markle is opting out of meeting with him … again.
Trump is headed to London for a two-day NATO summit, which will include a cocktail party at Buckingham Palace today (Tuesday), hosted by Queen Elizabeth. Kate Middleton, Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall will attend, but Meghan and Prince Harry are sticking to their stated intention to take a break from royal life during the holidays. Prince William will also be absent, as he is traveling in a royal tour of Kuwait and Oman.
The pair are reportedly opting out of the spotlight, which means absenting themselves from annual holiday festivities at Sandringham, including their public walk to church on Christmas morning, and meals and parties with the Queen and the rest of the royals.
In June, Trump, 73, and First Lady Melania Trump, 49, visited the U.K. in June, and attended a banquet with the Queen, Charles, Camilla, Kate and William at Buckingham Palace. Harry joined the royals and the Trumps for an exhibit at the Palace, but Meghan did not, and reportedly chose to sit it out due to her maternity leave.
