Suspect nabbed after assault early Tuesday morning
KAMLOOPS — RCMP have a 30-year-old man in custody following an alleged assault this morning (Nov. 26) at 1st Avenue and Columbia Street.
In a news release, RCMP Sgt. Brandon Buliziuk says just before 2:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, they got a call from a man who said he had been attacked by another man with a large knife. The man was able to escape without injury and called 9-1-1.
Buliziuk says police established a perimeter and brought in the police dogs, and within a matter of minutes, a man matching the description of the suspect was located hiding and arrested without incident.
Buliziuk says the 30-year old Kamloops man is well known to police and remains in custody pending possible charges. Police say they believe this was an isolated incident and there is no further risk to the public.
