Province invites nominations for Order of B.C., Medal of Good Citizenship
KAMLOOPS — The Province of B.C. has issued a call for nominations for the Order of British Columbia.
The highest honour bestowed by the Province, the nomination is extended “to those British Columbians who have demonstrated outstanding achievement, excellence or distinction in a field of endeavour benefiting people in the province or elsewhere.”
In a news release, the provincial government says residents are encouraged to nominate people who are “inspiring” and who have “left a lasting legacy” on B.C.
Locals invested into the Order include Olympic hero and retired senator Nancy Greene Raine, former lieutenant-governor Judith Guichon, wheelchair athlete Rick Hansen, former Kamloops Indian Band Chief Manny Jules, trailblazing Indigenous and political leader Len Marchand and former Kamloops mayor Peter Wing.
