KAMLOOPS — CJ’s Nightclub is set to play host to a fundraiser for Jessie Simpson, the 22-year-old who is still recovering three years after a baseball bat attack left him with a severe brain injury.

The fundraiser, organized by Hi, Society Entertainment, runs from 7:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. on Friday (Nov. 22). Jessie’s mother Susan Simpson says there will be rap artists and DJs and a silent auction to raise money as the family prepares to attend the Halvar Jonson Centre for Brain Injury in Ponoka, Alberta.

“The money from the fundraiser will be for the Halvar Jonson in Ponoka for Jessie. It’s a rehabilitation centre. We’re hoping to see Jessie walk again, which is amazing. It’ll go to gas, insurance, hotels, a place to stay while Jessie’s going through treatment there, which will be hopefully soon. We’re praying and waiting,” noted Susan.

The organizer, Hi, Society Entertainment, is a company Jessie helped out over the years. The hope is to raise between $1,000 and $2,000. Susan says she is incredibly grateful for the ongoing community support.

“Jessie volunteered for the Hi, Society and is very close friends with them,” said Susan. “It’s amazing they’ve come together for him. It’s nice to see the community come together, but better yet to see Jessie’s volunteering and kindness to be karma come back. We’re so thankful.”

Susan expects some of Jessie’s old friends at the event. Tickets can be purchased at the door with a minimum donation of $10. The Simpson family is also launching its online auction that runs from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1.
