Storm GM denies accusation of insensitive comments by unamed player during a game in Nelson
KAMLOOPS —The Kamloops Storm are denying that there were any insensitive remarks made by any of their players to towards Nelson Leafs players at a heated game in Nelson on the weekend.
A Nelson assistant coach has accused an unamed storm player of making a racial remark towards a Leafs player.
“There were no racial remarks made by any Kamloops Storm player towards the Nelson Leafs bench.” says Storm General Manager Matt Kolle. “And there were no racial comments made by the Nelson Leafs towards the Kamloops Storm bench. We did an immediate investigation, within our team and on our bench. There were no names, no numbers, no comments made out there — there was nothing.”
The emotional game produced 18 power plays with Kamloops going 1-for-8 and Nelson 1-for-10 and a Nelson assistant coach and Storm head coach Steve Gainey both tossed late in the game.
