Immigrant Services, Habitat team up to launch mixed-use development on Kamloops North Shore
KAMLOOPS — A pair of Kamloops non-profit organizations are taking the lead in re-developing a piece of the North Shore’s Tranquille corridor.
According to a news release, Habitat for Humanity Kamloops and Kamloops Immigrant Services (KIS) have agreed to turn 448 Tranquille Road into a mixed-use, multi-story commercial and residential complex.
Today, the address is home to the KIS headquarters. The agencies say the future building will include up to 30 residential suites on the upper floors, with commercial offices and services on the ground floor.
KIS Executive Director France Lamontagne says the organization has long envisioned being able to help develop new housing for newcomers to Canada.
