Kamloops Film Society offers free family movies in November and December

KAMLOOPS — Some fun, family-friendly movies are headed to the Paramount Theatre, thanks to the Kamloops Film Society.

The Society has five free family flicks planned, beginning November 2 and 3, with Back to the Future. KFS Executive Director Dusan Magdolen says the Society noticed they lacked in programming for the whole family. This series of films is their answer to that.

“We wanted to do some movies for families,” Magdolen says. “We also thought it would be neat to make films really accessible, and we were able to get some funding from [a fundraiser] down in the Lower Mainland. So we’re able to offer free films, and we’re definitely doing November and December.”

Magdolen says the KFS has been trying to branch out into different areas for movie lovers throughout the city. He’s hopeful these family-friendly films help inform a new generation of film lovers.

“Right now we have no idea if we’re going to get 700 people to show up for Back to the Future or 15,” Magdolen says. “It seems like people are into it and excited, and you get that generation who have little kids now, and they want to share those movies with them.”

Here’s a full list of the free family movies at the Paramount Theatre:
