Man in distress taken to hospital after overnight standoff in Kamloops
KAMLOOPS — Police in Kamloops say they helped a man in medical distress after an hours-long standoff this weekend.
Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says officers were called Friday (Oct. 11) night to a man who was in distress but refused to come out of his residence in the 700-block of McGill Road.
“The RCMP attended his home at approximately 10:15 pm on Friday evening,” Shelkie said. “It wasn’t until 5:00 a.m. on October 12 that officers were able to access the apartment and take the man to a local medical facility.”
Shelkie says there were no nearby evacuations and there was no risk to the public at any time.
