WolfPack soccer keeps playoff hopes alive after final home games of regular season

KAMLOOPS — Both of the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack soccer teams finished the home portions of their 2019-20 regular seasons this weekend.

The TRU women came out with a 1-1 draw against the UBCO Heat yesterday from the Warner Rentals field at Hillside Stadium.

After a scoreless first half, Chantal Gammie put one into the net for TRU, and Yvonne Manwaring scored for the Heat. Thompson Rivers now moves to 2-6-4 on the season while UBCO is at 1-10-1.

TRU honoured its fifth year players at Hillside Stadium as well, as Taylor Miller, Marisa Mendonca (Penticton, BC) and Natalie Verdiel (Powell River, BC) get ready to finish their final season with the WolfPack.

The WolfPack women will close out the regular season—with a playoff spot still possible- next Friday (Oct. 18) and Saturday (Oct. 19), at UFV and Trinity Western.

Meanwhile, the TRU WolfPack men’s soccer team downed the visiting University of British Columbia Okangan Heat 2-1 on Saturday.

The win keeps TRU’s playoff chances alive.

They will now finish the regular season on the road with two matches against UNBC next weekend.

Thompson Rivers also honored its lone fifth year player Justin Donaldson ( Kamloops,BC) at half time.
