Fewer direct flights to Toronto impact Kamloops Airport passenger numbers

KAMLOOPS — There was a slight drop in passenger numbers during the third quarter of 2019 at the Kamloops Airport.

Managing director Ed Ratuski says in a news release that fewer direct flights to Toronto made an impact.

“As expected, passenger numbers for the third quarter are marginally lower over the same period last year, due to the reduced number of seasonal nonstop flights to Toronto,” Ratuski says. “However, this slight decrease was moderated by very strong growth and performance by our airline partners on our key routes to Vancouver and Calgary.”

Although numbers were down for the third quarter of this year compared to the same time period in 2018, year-to-date numbers have increased.

“Year-to-date passenger numbers continue to reflect positive growth heading into the winter season,” Ratuski says. “Effective October 27, 2019 we are pleased to welcome increased capacity and frequency on routes to Calgary and Vancouver, offering passengers more convenient connections to both Air Canada and WestJet sun destinations and global networks.”
