DREW BARRYMORE TO HEADLINE DAYTIME TALK SHOW: Drew Barrymore is coming to daytime TV. Barrymore will headline and executive produce a syndicated talk show for CBS, and the show will launch next fall. “It is beyond my wildest dreams to have this opportunity for a daily talk show,” Barrymore said in a statement. “I’m truly thrilled and honored to be creating this show with CBS.” She joins other stars on daytime, including Kelly Clarkson and Nick Cannon.
NETFLIX GETS INTO ANIMATED ORIGINAL FILMS: Director Sergio Pablos has signed on to direct Klaus, Netflix‘s first original animated feature. Written by Despicable Me co-creator Pablos, Zach Lewis and Jim Mahoney, Klaus centers on a failing student at a postal academy (Jason Schwartzman), who is stationed in Smeerensberg, an island above the Arctic Circle, and how unexpected friendships can flourish in somber places. Klaus hits theaters November 8th, and Netflix on November 15th.
FILM INSPIRED BY KIM KARDASHIAN ROBBERY: Joann Sfar, a comic book artists and filmmakers, recently finished Fashion Week, a graphic novel inspired by the armed robbery of Kim Kardashian in Paris during fashion week in 2016. The novel is being developed into a film by Sfar as well. The film will address “violence against women, the relationship between the very rich people and the less rich, the world of fashion and the encounter between figures of new and old worlds,” Sfar told Variety.
FELICITY JONES AND SHAILENE WOODLEY SIGN ON FOR LAST LETTER: Felicity Jones and Shailene Woodley have signed on to star in and executive produce The Last Letter From Your Lover. Callum Turner, Nabhaan Rizwan, Joe Alwyn and Ncuti Gatwa will also star in the film, which is backed by Blueprint Pictures, The Film Farm and Studiocanal. The story follows a dual-narrative love story set in London and the Riviera, and is based on the best-selling novel by Jojo Moyes.
