KAMLOOPS — A TRU instructor will have to stand trial on a string of charges stemming from an alleged domestic incident.

Court documents show Julio Viskovich is facing charges of assault, forcible confinement, carrying, using or threatening to use a weapon or imitation weapon, and uttering threats.

He is scheduled to go to trial next April.

All charges stem from an alleged domestic incident on April 27, 2019.

CFJC Today is not naming the complainants in the case due to privacy concerns, but documents allege Viskovich threatened to cause death or bodily harm to one person, and also threatened to damage their parents’ property.

In two of the charges, Viskovich is alleged to carry, use, or threaten to use a weapon or imitation weapon while committing assault on two people.

Viskovich is a marketing instructor at TRU’s school of business. On its website, TRU lists Viskovich as a Continuing Sessional Lecturer. In his Twitter profile, he says he’s a Forbes Top 30 influencer, formerly worked for Microsoft, and “helped build” Hootsuite.

According to his LinkedIn profile, he’s worked at TRU for three years and has “developed and created TRU’s 1st ever Social Media and Digital Marketing Strategy courses.”

In an email statement, TRU confirms Viskovich is an employee at the university, and says:

“TRU is aware of this situation. We are not in a position, though, to discuss individual employee situations due to privacy legislation, and we are also cognizant that this is before the courts. As with most universities, TRU has processes in place to assess such matters and take action as deemed appropriate based on the information before us.”
