Kamloops Fire Rescue douses garbage truck fire inside public works garage

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Fire Rescue made short work of a garbage truck fire Tuesday evening (Oct. 8).

Platoon Capt. Darryl Cooper says crews were called to the City of Kamloops Public Works and Utilities Yard on Concordia Way early Tuesday evening.

Cooper says they arrived to find a fire in a garbage truck, which was parked inside a large garage.

Crews doused the flames and stayed on site to ventilate the building, and Cooper says no one was hurt.

The fire is under investigation, but Cooper says it’s suspected it may have been caused by garbage material from the truck coming into contact with hot diesel engine components.
