KAMLOOPS — Rotary Kamloops West members got their hands dirty in the Pollinator Gardens at the BC Wildlife Park today (Oct. 5).

After installing the first section of the Pollinator Gardens earlier this year, Kamloops West Rotary members worked to complete the 2nd phase today. A new bench and landscaping was put in place this afternoon to form the Rotary Peace Gardens.

Rotarian Sherry Chamberlain says part of Rotary’s mission is to improve peace, and the environment, and this project encompasses both.

“We’re going to add to the Pollinator Garden and beautify this area with more plants for pollinators, and beautifying it so that maybe people would want to come here to get photos, and so on,” She says, “It enhances the BC Wildlife Park, and this is what Rotarians like to do. We like to dig in the dirt and do some hands on work, and improve our environment.”

Chamberlain says the project will be turning into an ongoing service for the club, as they plan to return to the park seasonally to help with the landscaping.
