Kamloops RCMP warning drivers to slow down in West Victoria construction zone

KAMLOOPS — Police in Kamloops are asking drivers to obey the posted speed limit in the construction zone of the West Victoria Street project.
In a news release, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says it’s important for drivers to follow the 30 kilometres per hour work zone speed limit, as there are both people and machinery close to traffic.
“Now that some portions of the construction zone are being paved it has come to our attention that drivers are increasing their speed in these areas,” Shelkie says. “Drivers should remember that the entirety of the construction zone is a reduced speed zone.”
Shelkie adds that Kamloops RCMP’s traffic unit will be paying close attention to vehicles travelling through the construction area and looking for speed violators.
