Zac Brown Going Solo

Sep 30, 2019 | 6:12 AM

Zac Brown has made a bold move and jumped into the pop world with a solo project called The Controversy. He released the album on Friday (September 27th), just one week after Zac Brown Band released their new studio album, The Owl.

Zac offered some explanation via a video he shared on YouTube stating, “I wanted to create all these other genres of music that I love to do. Some of the guys in my band played on these records. We’re still going to perform some of them at Zac Brown Band shows.”

He added, “With a Zac Brown Band record, it has to be under country. I wish that there was a category that was a little broader than that because I love country, but I love other things, too. So this is my outlet. This is my chance to be an artist and be creative and it’s another side.”

The Controversy album features a “parental advisory explicit content” warning sticker on the front.

Zac Brown Band’s The Owl Tour resumes on October 17th in Jacksonville, FL.

INTERNET COMMENTS @rollingstone.com: AGREE OR DISAGREE?

“Sounds like any other pop and modern rap song” – GoldGlasses

“I thought reading these comments that it really can’t be as bad as these guys say… That is unrecognizable for ZBB it’s so corny hip-hop , crazy , and I love some good rap and hip-hop but seriously a job dropper!!!!” – GoldPuzzle

“He says that this is him tying different styles of music. And the title of the album proves that. Not everyone is going to like each song he says. So, Let him do what he wants. There will always be critics and like he also says, he don’t care. It’s his music he puts out.” – ZACBROWNFAN

“This from the guy who bad mouthed a Luke Bryan song as the worst that he had ever heard.” – CyanBlowdryer
