Kamloops Vibe open season with three game sweep

KAMLOOPS —- The Kamloops Vibe Hockey Team opened the 2019-2020, their 12th season in the SCWHL, winning 3 of 3 games on the road in Vancouver.

The first game Saturday was played at the Planet Ice arena in Delta against the South Fraser TNT. After period 1, the Vibe were leading, TNT ties it up in 2. The Vibe pull ahead finding the net 3 times in the third. Rochelle Smith had a hot stick with 4 goals in the game with Melinda Smith getting her first goal of the year. Make the final 5-2.

Kamloops returned to the ice at the Igloo in Richmond Saturday night. The Vibe lead most of the way with goals by Sarah Botter in period 1, Melinda Smith, Rochelle Smith and Marjorie Boisvert each scoring in period 2. The Devils get on the board at the start of the 3rd but the Vibe answer back midway through the third with Melinda Smith tapping in her second of the game. Final 5-1.

Kamloops then played their 3rd game in 24 hours against the league champions of 2018-2019 season the Fraser Valley Jets. The Jets opened the scoring early in the 1st period. Marjory Boisvert slaps it in midway through one to tie it up. The second period was a blank. With some back and forth action, Chantelle Beadman-Rolph scores with only 3 minutes left in the third. Kamloops wins 2-1.
