NIALL HORAN ANNOUNCES NEW SINGLE ‘NICE TO MEET YA’ COMING OCTOBER 4TH: Niall Horan has announced his new single, “Nice to Meet Ya.” “After nearly 2 years since ‘Flicker’ i’m ready to go,” the singer tweeted Thursday. “My new single #NiceToMeetYa is out October 4th.” He included a seven-second snippet of the song, which features him humming over a piano-driven track. The cover art is a black-and-white photo of a sunglasses-wearing Niall pointing at the camera. Niall’s sophomore solo album is reportedly due out in early 2020.
BTS, BECKY G TEASE ‘SECRET’ COLLABORATION: BTS and Becky G appear to have a collaboration in the works. The K-pop group and singer sent fans into a frenzy by teasing a “secret” project, using the hashtag #CNS. Fans speculated CNS stands for “cuenta neustro secreto,” which means “tell our secret” in Spanish, or “chicken noodle soup.” BTS met Becky G at the Billboard Music Awards in May. Becky G posted a video of Korean snacks from the set of a music video in August, the same week BTS member J-Hope was spotted in Los Angeles. BTS released their EP Map of the Soul: Persona in April, and will resume their Speak Yourself world tour October 11th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Fresh Off the Boat star Randall Park said Thursday that he cried and was “super moved” at BTS’ show in Los Angeles in May.
ZAYN AND SHAED RELEASE DUET VERSION OF ‘TRAMPOLINE’: ZAYN has teamed up with SHAED for a new version of the band’s hit “Trampoline.” The new version adds vocals from the former One Direction member. SHAED lead singer Chelsea Lee says that ZAYN’s 2016 No. 1 hit “Pillowtalk” is “one of my all-time favorite songs.” “I warm up to it all the time so singing a duet with ZAYN is extra special and totally surreal,” she adds. The duet came about because Shaed was looking to extend the song’s success, so they reached out to ZAYN’s team. “A week later we woke up to a recording of ZAYN singing ‘Trampoline’ a cappella in our AirBnb in LA. Goosebumps,” gushes Lee. The original version of “Trampoline” has gone gold and has racked up over 300 million streams worldwide. SHAED will kick off a headline tour September 30th in Minneapolis.
MARK RONSON APOLOGIZES FOR SAYING HE IDENTIFIES AS SAPIOSEXUAL: Mark Ronson is clarifying a comment he recently made about identifying as sapiosexual. The 44-year-old Oscar and Grammy-winning music producer apologized to anyone who thought he considered himself part of a marginalized community. Mark explained that during an interview on Good Morning Britain, the hosts brought up the term sapiosexual. “They’re like, ‘Mark, how do you feel about sapiosexuality?’ And I’m like, ‘What is it?’ And it’s like, ‘Well, when you’re attracted to intelligence.’ And I was like, ‘That sounds great. Of course, who wouldn’t be?'” Mark told Rolling Stone. “And they were like basically like, ‘OK, Mark Ronson identifies himself as sapiosexual, that’s great.'” Ronson says his words were taken out of context and that he does not identify as sapiosexual. A sapiosexual person is “someone who finds intelligence and the human mind to be the most sexually attractive feature for a potential sexual relationship,” according to Psychology Today. “It sounds like I went on a TV show to be like, ‘Guys, I have some big news!'” he added. “And the fact that I would go on and sort of declare myself – like as a heterosexual white male – part of any marginalized community was terrifying to me, or just embarrassing.”
