VANCOUVER — A Vancouver-based brewery is pitching in to help reforest the area razed by the 2017 Elephant Hill wildfire.

Stanley Park Brewing has released a new beer called Reforest Hazy IPA. In a news release, the brewery says the beer is “[i]nspired by the smoky skylines that plagued cities across Western Canada in recent years.”

Every four-pack of Reforest Hazy the company sells will help it, along with tree planter tentree, plant 10 trees in the area affected by the massive 2017 fire.

A video posted to tentree’s website notes there are little-to-no seeding trees remaining in the nearly 200,000-hectare Elephant Hill footprint. A regional reforestation official estimates it could take 40 to 50 years for the area to reforest naturally.

The news release notes the venture has already reached 75 per cent of its 170,000-tree goal.
