Kamloops Rugby Club Division one and two men score big wins over Abbotsford

KAMLOOPS —- Kamloops welcomed Abbotsford for a ladies match and two men’s games on a brilliant sunny Saturday.

The KRC ladies were facing an experienced and large Abbie team and were pressured all game.

The first 15 minutes were close with Abbie scoring an early try and KRC evening the score at 7 – 7 with Lea Rodominski scoring a try and Linsay Stobbe adding the convert.

Abbie continued to attack all half scoring a further 17 points to make the half time score KRC 7 – Abbie 24.

The second half was all Abbie until the final minute of the match when Erin Jensen broke through the Abbie defence only to be pulled down 10 metres short of the goal line, however support arrived and Lindsay Stobbe scored under the posts and added the convert. Final score KRC 14 – Abbie 51.

The KRC thirds faced a large Abbie pack and for the 15 minutes were put to the test.

However a large pack sometimes doesn’t control the game and 5 minutes into the match the backs found an opening and Curtis Everett touched down and converted his try for a 7 point lead.

For the next 15 minutes the play was even and occassionly Abbie pressured but couldn’t convert their pressure into points.

KRC then opened up the Abbie defence scoring 4 tries with Blanchard and Nat Watts scoring singles and Curtis Everett completing his hat trick, Curtis also converted all of the tries to make the half time score KRC 28 – Abbie 0.

The second half was all KRC with Nat Watts completing his hat trick and further tries from Ben Cunningham, Terry Gallant, and Cole Levitt.

Trevor Miyazaki converted 4 of the tries.

Abbie made one break in the half to avoid the whitewash by scoring a converted try.

Final score KRC 61 – Abbie 7.

KRC seconds faced a bit of an unknown Abbie team and at the five minute mark Wes Black scored the opening try with Greg Thomson converting.

After a further 5 minutes Wes again crossed the line with Greg converting to increase the lead to 14 – 0.

KRC scored two more first half tries with Chris Chan and Elliot Elverhoff scoring and Greg Thomson converting both.

Half time score KRC 28 – Abbie 0, the same half time score as in the first men’s match.

The second half was a bit more robust with both Abbie and Kamloops having a man in the sin bin.

This didn’t detour Kamloops and they scored five tries in the second half.
