KAMLOOPS — After a relatively uneventful wildfire season in the Kamloops Fire Centre, open burning prohibitions will be lifted in the region.

Effective noon tomorrow (Sept. 18), Category 2 and Category 3 open fires will be permitted throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre jurisdiction due to a decreased wildfire risk.

Use of the following equipment and activities will also be allowed:

  • Fireworks, including firecrackers
  • Sky lanterns
  • Burn barrels or burn cages of any size or description
  • Binary exploding targets
  • Tiki and similar kind of torches
