Wildlife Park looking for a hand to fix miniature train engine

KAMLOOPS — Volunteers who operate the popular Wildlife Express Miniature Train at B.C. Wildlife Park are looking for some help.

The engine blew a compressor recently, and it has been off the track ever since.

Spokesperson Viki Bentley says a new compressor has been lined up, but the volunteers need help to install it this Tuesday (Sept. 17).

“They need some help. Anybody that has knowledge — a heavy duty mechanic — who could help them put that compressor in swifter time than it would take those guys to do it, then we can get the train up and running again in time for next weekend,” said Bentley.

The Wildlife Express is a popular feature of the park, and Bentley says it needs to be back on the tracks for the busy season approaching.

“With the season coming up — Thanksgiving and Boo at the Zoo — we really need to get this train in tip-top service for that time as well,” said Bentley.

Anyone interested in helping out is asked to call Stan Kulchyski at (250) 579-8811 or Ernie Robinson at (250) 579-8938.

Bentley says they will be prepared to meet any helpers Tuesday morning at around 7:30 a.m. at the park’s west gate.
