KAMLOOPS — Police and the school district are investigating an incident of threatening graffiti at Valleyview Secondary School.

An email from Valleyview Secondary’s principal was distributed to parents today detailing the incident.

SD73 Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Schools, Bill Hamblett, says staff spotted the graffiti this morning, which read “Find the bomb”.

“The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority,” he says. “School District 73 is taking this incident very seriously and working with the RCMP.”

Police were called to the school, investigated and confirmed the threat was not credible.

“Every threat made at a school or towards a school is taken very seriously whether it’s on social media or graffiti tagged such as this, these incidents take a tremendous amount of resources to investigate to determine the source of the threat,” Hamblett says.

He says he doesn’t have any information on who the suspect may be.

“I don’t know if we’ll ever find out who actually did the tagging but it’s critically important for parents to stress to their children the consequences of these inappropriate actions regarding such matters in any and all school settings.”

Classes are in session as usual at Valleyview.

Kamloops RCMP says they are investigating the graffiti.
