More curtailments for West Fraser
QUESNEL, B.C. — More mill curtailments are ahead for the Interior as West Fraser Timber says it will introduce variable operating schedules at five of its sawmills which will decrease production by up to 25 per cent.
The company says varying schedules will start Monday because of sustained weak markets, pricing in wood product markets, and high log costs.
It says the potential effect of the new operating schedules could be an total reduction of up to about 100 million board feet through the end of the year.
Affected sawmills are in Chetwynd, Fraser Lake, Quesnel, Williams Lake and 100 Mile House.
