KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP have forwarded a motorcycle crash file to the Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of B.C.

According to a news release from B.C. RCMP Communications, the incident happened Tuesday (Sept. 3) at about 4:20 p.m.

An RCMP member conducting speed enforcement along Westsyde Road noticed a motorcycle approaching him travelling too fast.

In an effort to stop the motorcycle, the Mountie activated lights and sirens and turned his patrol car around.

A short time later, the member found the motorcycle further down the road having crashed with a pickup truck.

The biker was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The occupants of the pickup were not hurt.

RCMP are looking for witnesses to the incident. If you saw anything related to the attempted traffic stop or the crash, call Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000 and reference file #2019-30648.

IIO will investigate whether the RCMP member’s actions or inactions contributed to the motorcyclist’s injuries.
