WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash north of Williams Lake last Friday (Aug. 30).

According to a news release from RCMP, the crash happened during the noon hour along Highway 97 near Scharf Road, near the Williams Lake Regional Airport.

RCMP say the southbound motorcyclist ran into the back of a pickup truck that had been stopped as it waited to make a left turn.

The rider was identified as a man in his 60s from south-central BC. He suffered significant injuries and was taken to hospital in serious condition.

The collision did not injure the pickup truck driver.

RCMP say the highway was partially blocked off during the investigation, and impairment has been ruled out as a factor in the crash.
